Well following an excellent season the Moreton Bay Buggers have lost the Grand Final.
It was a game of swinging momentum, and from what i'm told very exciting to watch. UQ started the game in excellent style and took a large lead of 7 to 1. The Buggers then turned it around and thanks to some quality zone defence managed to drag themselves all the way back into the game. Half was 8 -7 to UQ, the score was then 9 all getting towards time cap.
The last section of the game was full of long mistake riddled points that required one team to make the right choices and control the frisbee when they got their chances. In the past this has been the Buggers, doing the right things at the end of games, last night however UQ managed to out play the Bugs in this important aspect of the game.
Congratulations to UQ, they played well and really set up their win through both a mistake free first few points and a desperate last few points. The final score was 12 - 10 UQ.
Disappointment for the Buggers as we have been playing well for most of the season and we really had our chances to take away a win last night.
Well done to Mat Ryan for his win of the Most Valuable Player award, well deserved. Congratulations also to James Larkin (VC) and Mike Neild (C) for placing 3rd and 4th respectively in the MVP voting.
There is now a 5 week break from the BPL, they Buggers will be working on various aspects of their game, player roles, uniforms, drinking games and team structure.
Look out next season, we will be back.
